From Light to Quantum: Africa’s Science Continuum
Africa’s scientific journey has always been collective — built by institutions like the African Physical Society (AfPS) and the African Light Source (AfLS), which for years have advanced the frontiers of physics, light, and matter across the continent.
Now, these two powerhouses convene again for the 2025 Joint Meeting on November 17-21, celebrate #IYQ2025 and the Africa Quantum Consortium (AQC) will join the conversation, contributing to the Quantum Track.
We see this as more than participation. It’s alignment.
Quantum science doesn’t replace Africa’s legacy in light and physics — it extends it.
Our role is simple: connect dots, bridge efforts, and make it easy for Africa’s physicists, engineers, and thinkers to build together instead of in silos.
We respect what’s been built.
We reject fragmentation and gatekeeping.
And we’re here to amplify Africa’s readiness to lead in quantum, not as outsiders, but as descendants of this same lineage.
Because the continent’s light and quantum destinies were never separate — just waiting to converge.

The Africa Quantum Consortium is the driving force uniting Africa’s top minds to collaborate, innovate, and propel quantum technology forward across the continent.
