A Note on Building: The Work Has Already Begun.
For too long, African innovation has been defined by siloed efforts and closed networks - a system where access is limited, permission is sought, and progress is measured by conversation, not impact.
That era is over. Privilege is not a strategy. Execution is.
When we launched the Africa Quantum Consortium, we made a promise to this community: we are neutral builders. Today, we continue to deliver on that promise.
First, we created the blueprint. Our community-driven white paper, “AFRICA’S QUANTUM HORIZON,” is a data-driven strategy for a unified continent and an operational plan for building a sovereign quantum ecosystem.
But a plan is only as good as its execution. We have been building in the open; through roundtables, global forums, and community platforms that connect everyone from high school students to industry leaders.
Now, without delay, we are launching the vehicle to put solid stakes in the ground: the Pan-African Quantum Challenge. This is the living proof of our model - a hackathon for Africa, built by Africa’s community in open collaboration with global partners.
This model of open access may be uncomfortable for those accustomed to gatekeeping. But the future of a technology as transformative as quantum cannot be shaped by a select few; it must be built by all. This platform is an open invitation, especially to those who have felt outside of closed circles. The only requirement for entry is the will to build.
To our global partners engaged with the continent: a fragmented Africa benefits no one and diminishes the global opportunity for growth. Anyone genuinely committed to building capacity and realizing our world’s full human potential has a transparent and operational partner in the AQC.
To those on the continent who may still have doubts, the door remains open. We are always listening and improving our strategy, because our goal is to redefine how Africa innovates. The prize for this challenge’s winners - a spot in our AQC Quantum Venture Lab - is just the first of many opportunities we will create for everyone that steps us.
Our mission is to foster a unified, innovative, and sovereign Africa. That is our only focus. This work may take time, but delay is not denial. The future we are building is inevitable.
