Quantum Youth Branch Tunisia hosted a Qiskit Workshop, bringing hands-on quantum experience to Tunis with Dr. Iyed Ben Slimen. The event marks a key step in making Tunis a Quantum City—well done to the team for driving local engagement and practical learning in quantum computing.
It’s frustrating that quantum events in Africa or led by Africans outside the continent often lack visibility. This limits engagement, growth, and Africa's position in the global quantum ecosystem.
CTA: Share African-based events on WQD and IYQ sites. Let’s promote awareness, showcase quantum’s growth in Africa, and make events easier to find for collaboration.
Quantum Public Lecture – Zimbabwe
Join Arupe Jesuit University, Zimbabwe, for a Quantum Public Lecture organized by John Tseriwa and team. Excited to see Harare being a Quantum City!
CTA: Partners, speakers, mentors, and participants—reach out to collaborate and contribute. John, please list the event to ensure it gets the attention it deserves. Let’s work together to make this event memorable and impactful. Remember, World Quantum Day is every day in 2025.
The vision of World Quantum Day (WQD) and AQC is for every African country to host a public awareness or education event by the end of 2025. We need your help, ideas, and energy to make this happen.
CTA: Reach out to collaborate, share ideas, and make an impact. Together, we can ensure quantum takes center stage across the continent!
Prof. Moungi Bawendi, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2023, delivered a plenary lecture on Quantum Dots: An Exploration of the NanoWorld at INSAT, Tunisia, on April 18, 2025. Invited by Prof. Adnane Abdelghani and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Biomaterials and Nanobiotechnology (JBNB), this event marked a powerful moment in strengthening connections between Africa and its diaspora. Prof. Bawendi’s visit to Tunisia, where he exchanged with local experts like Mourad Telmini, Sonia Haddad and students, underscores the opportunity to grow collaboration with experts in the field of quantum and nanotechnology. We ❤️ it!
Quantum Wins
Congrats to Dr. Taha Rouabah and the Quminex team for securing pre-seed funding from Quantonation, Quantacet, and QV Studio. This milestone is a step forward towards de-risking the local startup scene in deep-tech. We aim to learn from collaborations like these to build the infrastructure needed to support ambitious projects and quantum innovation right here on the continent. Reach out with suggestions, ideas and to partner.
